Polly
Service object for interacting with AWS Polly service.
public struct Polly: AWSService
Amazon Polly is a web service that makes it easy to synthesize speech from text.
The Amazon Polly service provides API operations for synthesizing high-quality speech from plain text and Speech Synthesis Markup Language (SSML), along with managing pronunciations lexicons that enable you to get the best results for your application domain.
Inheritance

Initializers
init(client:region:partition:endpoint:timeout:byteBufferAllocator:options:)
Initialize the Polly client
public init(
client: AWSClient,
region: SotoCore.Region? = nil,
partition: AWSPartition = .aws,
endpoint: String? = nil,
timeout: TimeAmount? = nil,
byteBufferAllocator: ByteBufferAllocator = ByteBufferAllocator(),
options: AWSServiceConfig.Options = []
)
Parameters
- client: AWSClient used to process requests
- region: Region of server you want to communicate with. This will override the partition parameter.
- partition: AWS partition where service resides, standard (.aws), china (.awscn), government (.awsusgov).
- endpoint: Custom endpoint URL to use instead of standard AWS servers
- timeout: Timeout value for HTTP requests
init(from:patch:)
Initializer required by AWSService.with(middlewares:timeout:byteBufferAllocator:options)
. You are not able to use this initializer directly as there are no public initializers for AWSServiceConfig.Patch
. Please use AWSService.with(middlewares:timeout:byteBufferAllocator:options)
instead.

Methods
deleteLexicon(_:logger:on:)
public func deleteLexicon(_ input: DeleteLexiconInput, logger: Logger = AWSClient.loggingDisabled, on eventLoop: EventLoop? = nil) -> EventLoopFuture<DeleteLexiconOutput>
Deletes the specified pronunciation lexicon stored in an Amazon Web Services Region. A lexicon which has been deleted is not available for
speech synthesis, nor is it possible to retrieve it using either the
GetLexicon
or ListLexicon
APIs.
For more information, see Managing Lexicons.
describeVoices(_:logger:on:)
public func describeVoices(_ input: DescribeVoicesInput, logger: Logger = AWSClient.loggingDisabled, on eventLoop: EventLoop? = nil) -> EventLoopFuture<DescribeVoicesOutput>
Returns the list of voices that are available for use when requesting speech synthesis. Each voice speaks a specified language, is either male or female, and is identified by an ID, which is the ASCII version of the voice name.
When synthesizing speech ( SynthesizeSpeech
), you
provide the voice ID for the voice you want from the list of voices
returned by DescribeVoices
.
For example, you want your news reader application to read news in
a specific language, but giving a user the option to choose the voice.
Using the DescribeVoices
operation you can provide the user
with a list of available voices to select from.
You can optionally specify a language code to filter the available
voices. For example, if you specify en-US
, the operation
returns a list of all available US English voices.
This operation requires permissions to perform the
polly:DescribeVoices
action.
getLexicon(_:logger:on:)
public func getLexicon(_ input: GetLexiconInput, logger: Logger = AWSClient.loggingDisabled, on eventLoop: EventLoop? = nil) -> EventLoopFuture<GetLexiconOutput>
Returns the content of the specified pronunciation lexicon stored in an Amazon Web Services Region. For more information, see Managing Lexicons.
getSpeechSynthesisTask(_:logger:on:)
public func getSpeechSynthesisTask(_ input: GetSpeechSynthesisTaskInput, logger: Logger = AWSClient.loggingDisabled, on eventLoop: EventLoop? = nil) -> EventLoopFuture<GetSpeechSynthesisTaskOutput>
Retrieves a specific SpeechSynthesisTask object based on its TaskID. This object contains information about the given speech synthesis task, including the status of the task, and a link to the S3 bucket containing the output of the task.
listLexicons(_:logger:on:)
public func listLexicons(_ input: ListLexiconsInput, logger: Logger = AWSClient.loggingDisabled, on eventLoop: EventLoop? = nil) -> EventLoopFuture<ListLexiconsOutput>
Returns a list of pronunciation lexicons stored in an Amazon Web Services Region. For more information, see Managing Lexicons.
listSpeechSynthesisTasks(_:logger:on:)
public func listSpeechSynthesisTasks(_ input: ListSpeechSynthesisTasksInput, logger: Logger = AWSClient.loggingDisabled, on eventLoop: EventLoop? = nil) -> EventLoopFuture<ListSpeechSynthesisTasksOutput>
Returns a list of SpeechSynthesisTask objects ordered by their creation date. This operation can filter the tasks by their status, for example, allowing users to list only tasks that are completed.
putLexicon(_:logger:on:)
public func putLexicon(_ input: PutLexiconInput, logger: Logger = AWSClient.loggingDisabled, on eventLoop: EventLoop? = nil) -> EventLoopFuture<PutLexiconOutput>
Stores a pronunciation lexicon in an Amazon Web Services Region. If a lexicon with the same name already exists in the region, it is overwritten by the new lexicon. Lexicon operations have eventual consistency, therefore, it might take some time before the lexicon is available to the SynthesizeSpeech operation.
For more information, see Managing Lexicons.
startSpeechSynthesisTask(_:logger:on:)
public func startSpeechSynthesisTask(_ input: StartSpeechSynthesisTaskInput, logger: Logger = AWSClient.loggingDisabled, on eventLoop: EventLoop? = nil) -> EventLoopFuture<StartSpeechSynthesisTaskOutput>
Allows the creation of an asynchronous synthesis task, by starting a
new SpeechSynthesisTask
. This operation requires all the
standard information needed for speech synthesis, plus the name of an
Amazon S3 bucket for the service to store the output of the synthesis task
and two optional parameters (OutputS3KeyPrefix
and
SnsTopicArn
). Once the synthesis task is created, this
operation will return a SpeechSynthesisTask
object, which
will include an identifier of this task as well as the current status. The
SpeechSynthesisTask
object is available for 72 hours after
starting the asynchronous synthesis task.
synthesizeSpeech(_:logger:on:)
public func synthesizeSpeech(_ input: SynthesizeSpeechInput, logger: Logger = AWSClient.loggingDisabled, on eventLoop: EventLoop? = nil) -> EventLoopFuture<SynthesizeSpeechOutput>
Synthesizes UTF-8 input, plain text or SSML, to a stream of bytes. SSML input must be valid, well-formed SSML. Some alphabets might not be available with all the voices (for example, Cyrillic might not be read at all by English voices) unless phoneme mapping is used. For more information, see How it Works.
synthesizeSpeechStreaming(_:logger:on:_:)
public func synthesizeSpeechStreaming(_ input: SynthesizeSpeechInput, logger: Logger = AWSClient.loggingDisabled, on eventLoop: EventLoop? = nil, _ stream: @escaping (ByteBuffer, EventLoop)->EventLoopFuture<Void>) -> EventLoopFuture<SynthesizeSpeechOutput>
Synthesizes UTF-8 input, plain text or SSML, to a stream of bytes. SSML input must be valid, well-formed SSML. Some alphabets might not be available with all the voices (for example, Cyrillic might not be read at all by English voices) unless phoneme mapping is used. For more information, see How it Works.
listSpeechSynthesisTasksPaginator(_:logger:on:)
compiler(>=5.5.2) && canImport(_Concurrency)
public func listSpeechSynthesisTasksPaginator( _ input: ListSpeechSynthesisTasksInput, logger: Logger = AWSClient.loggingDisabled, on eventLoop: EventLoop? = nil ) -> AWSClient.PaginatorSequence<ListSpeechSynthesisTasksInput, ListSpeechSynthesisTasksOutput>
Returns a list of SpeechSynthesisTask objects ordered by their creation date. This operation can filter the tasks by their status, for example, allowing users to list only tasks that are completed.
Return PaginatorSequence for operation. - Parameters: - input: Input for request - logger: Logger used flot logging - eventLoop: EventLoop to run this process on
listSpeechSynthesisTasksPaginator(_:_:logger:on:onPage:)
Provide paginated results to closure onPage
for it to combine them into one result. This works in a similar manner to Array.reduce<Result>(_:_:) -> Result
.
public func listSpeechSynthesisTasksPaginator<Result>(
_ input: ListSpeechSynthesisTasksInput,
_ initialValue: Result,
logger: Logger = AWSClient.loggingDisabled,
on eventLoop: EventLoop? = nil,
onPage: @escaping (Result, ListSpeechSynthesisTasksOutput, EventLoop) -> EventLoopFuture<(Bool, Result)>
) -> EventLoopFuture<Result>
Returns a list of SpeechSynthesisTask objects ordered by their creation date. This operation can filter the tasks by their status, for example, allowing users to list only tasks that are completed.
Parameters:
- input: Input for request
- initialValue: The value to use as the initial accumulating value.
initialValue
is passed toonPage
the first time it is called.
- logger: Logger used flot logging
- eventLoop: EventLoop to run this process on
- onPage: closure called with each paginated response. It combines an accumulating result with the contents of response. This combined result is then returned along with a boolean indicating if the paginate operation should continue.
listSpeechSynthesisTasksPaginator(_:logger:on:onPage:)
Provide paginated results to closure onPage
.
public func listSpeechSynthesisTasksPaginator(
_ input: ListSpeechSynthesisTasksInput,
logger: Logger = AWSClient.loggingDisabled,
on eventLoop: EventLoop? = nil,
onPage: @escaping (ListSpeechSynthesisTasksOutput, EventLoop) -> EventLoopFuture<Bool>
) -> EventLoopFuture<Void>
Parameters
- input: Input for request
- logger: Logger used flot logging
- eventLoop: EventLoop to run this process on
- onPage: closure called with each block of entries. Returns boolean indicating whether we should continue.
